PROCESS

My capstone emerged from a desire to create a tool, using AR and 3D modeling, that would allow young people to envision how they might look in a binder—without the pressure of purchasing one or the safety to do so. This idea then expanded into an app that empowers queer youth to explore multiple facets of their expression.

INSIGHTS

While this concept began as a way for people to explore their style, interviews and surveys quickly showed me that access to mental health and gender-affirming care was a top priority. Combining both into one app became the best solution, creating a portable safe space where users can browse privately or connect with community by sharing their own personal journey.

RESEARCH

In talking with my target audience about their own experiences, there were a variety of different feelings towards having a personal style, social media, and other avenues that we use to affirm our gender. Making sure that Fantaxia could be a safe space for users, no matter what phase of their journey they're in, was my main priority.
